Update from the core group...
Great hotel in Athlone, good breakfast. The group are pushing on well today with only one puncture so far (3 yesterday within the first 10 miles!).
They are currently between Mullingar and Kells. They haven't stopped for lunch yet and will push onto Kells and perhaps even Ardlee before considering taking on food.
Team spirit is good.

I met the group this morning in the Carrickdale, some looked a bit bleary eyed Another 14 riders joined in here. Group of 22 then set off just after 9:35 At Banbridge leisure centre we had another 20 ish signed on giving very generously to the charity. They rode out the road to meet the group coming through around 11:15. Arrival in Hillsborough Secret Garden around 12 with stragglers arriving up to 12:30. Great food laid on by the ladies from the church. A big thanks to all those who helped to put this together especially to Andrew Wilson who worked so hard to co-ordinate all parties. Just to say a big thanks to Andrew for organising, Martin for supporting, Paddy and the Lisburn Community Transport people, the Carrickdale and the Shearton for the accomodation and great food - to all the Dromara riders and those riders who turned up to support the last leg to Hillsborough.
This route was great - the wind was with us and the group of 8 worked really well for the 2 1/2 days on the road. Day 1 was 55 miles from Galway to Athlone with 17.8 average, day two just shy of 100 miles with a 17.6 average, the third day to Hillsborough was about 40 and the first hills of the tour, 210 for the trip door to door.
Lastly thanks to all in the 'golden circle' for some good laughs and a really committed ride. Chris rode the front for whole of the tour, Rayme was super strong on the long day, Philly, Geoff and Doyler for the Dromara (we all have helicopers) stories, Swerve for being new and chilled, sometimes too chilled, Marty for being the most sensible in the group - good times

I got a call from Mervyn earlier today to say that he has managed to come home with an extra Dromara top. Can the owner contact him or come through me?
Thanks

Any idea of dates for this years(2014) Oyster Festival Charity Cycle from Galway-Hillsborough? I would like to do it again but would need to get holidays booked off work at some stage.
