Hot on the heels of NPS rd2 and UXC rd2 - Round 3 of the NPS is this sunda coming at ticknock, Dublin.
I've been told this is one for the climbers unlike round 1 which was one for the cyclocrossers, and round 2 which was one for the flat land speed merchants.
Well, I am going anyway, despite the crushing together of all these races. There is a break the following weekend.
Anyone else?
Round up a troop and save some fuel? I reckon 2 hours there and 2 hours back should be about right.

I was keen but after seeing how you bored your last travel partners to sleep after 5miles I think I will give it a miss. Ah well Donard mountain race instead!

So Home I am... Quick race report before some more recovery rhubarb crumble... So we lined up, The pack was gridded with 6 (!) on the front row. The road was wide enough for maybe 4. Already in a bad mood, the whistle went and the pace went through the roof. 6 Guys in a small pack led up the long climb. Me desperately holding on to the coat tails being the 6th man. The Gap back to the rest was only maybe 10 seconds after the tarmac climb from hell, designed and succeeding in splitting the pack up. Down the first singletrack section and onto the course proper for 4 laps of joy. The lap mainly consisted of one massive climb to the top of the course on what was the roughest forest road imaginable. I was holding onto 6th thankfully as I tried desperately to make proper contact with the lead couple of men. It was strung out well with the super tough climb giving no respite, and no ground was being made up. Perspective, from there to the photographer was about half way up! by Liam Phelan, on Flickr Finally near the top I closed in on a couple and got into 4th place, but the lead couple of guys had 30 seconds on me and it stayed that way for the first 2 full laps. On the 3rd lap I finally closed down the gap on 3rd and squeezed by, I then passed an Epic MTB guy who I thought was the early leader. All happy to be sitting in 2nd and ready to battle with my old mate from Killarney CC who beat me in rounds 1 and 2. On the end of lap 3 I managed to ride the technical stuff cleaner than previously and closed the gap down to him. Coming into the finish line, he now held a lead over me of about 10 seconds. Much more achievable. After a bit of gut wrenching up the wild west fire road - I finally made it onto his wheel after about an hour and 10 minutes of racing. DCC Vs KCC by Liam Phelan, on Flickr I managed to then pass and push on to try and gap him up to the peak, and rode the downhill sections well with no slips or dabs to stretch it out a little. Crossing the line with a clenched fist in celebration, awfully pleased with myself and my first ever NPS victory. Only to realise the EPIC MTB guy I had passed earlier was one of their boys in the S3 race I was lapping, and the early leader had slipped the net by just under 20 seconds. Almost as embarrassing as Gavin sprinting for the wrong finish line ;D Still, very happy with 2nd place on another toughie. Sorry, did I say this was a quick report? Lady Dixon next in two weeks time. I wonder can I persuade anyone from the club to come along to it

You misread, I got him in this, one just about! Beaten by a different savage altogether. There are too many strong men in these NPS races. Time is running out for me.
Good result yourself up Donard I see, assuming you are the real Brian Wilson and not the imposter Brian Wilson on the results???
And even better result in securing time keeping services for friday night from Bryce. What a scoop that is! You must be pleased?
