This Friday there will be a photo shoot at the Civic Centre in Lisburn to launch the Coastal Cycle. DCC riders are invited along in club colours at 6 pm for photo with Mayor. A fancy road bike or two in the shot would be good too! Send me a text if you can come along. Thanks Martin

I'm going down. Anyone fancy a spin afterwards? It's a lovely evening for it.

As per discussion within the Saturday 'A' run yesterday I just want to confirm I will be marking the route for the long course from Quoile Bridge Downpatrick to Station Road Saintfield at it's junction with Belfast Road.
I will use yellow road marking paint marking 'DC' and a direction arrow.
As per discussion the Ringdufferin Rd section outside K'leagh will be cut out for safety reasons instead the route will pass the Ringdufferin Rd heading for Balloo and take the first right turn down Ballymorran Road and turn left on Ballymorran Rd along the usual route. This cuts out a minimal section of the route and will not shorten it's length.
Others please post here to ensure the whole route is marked. (Our Chairman mentioned marking the short route from Quoile Bridge).
Martin if there any issues please let me know.

It was wet and windy at the Coastal this year. It hasn't been like this for years. Fair play to the hearty bunch of 154 seniors and 2 juniors who set off from Dromara Football club to Strangford. There are lots of people to thank for their support. Sign on crew - Bernie, Aoife, Marty McA and Graham B Tent erecting crew - John C, Conor R, Philip B and my hard working folks The wonderful ladies from the Downpatrick Third World group for providing the lunch. Lisburn lord mayor for coming along to support the event. Motorcycle outriders The ChainReaction Support wagon team of Tony and Brendan who were kept very busy along with way (20 tubes, 2 tires and providing a lift to one rider to tea stop) Ian in the football club for looking after us. Some photos here www.flickr.com/photos/34727847@N04/sets/72157633484357542/As always I'm after feedback for what we can improve on for next year (other than the obvious - fix the weather!!). Please text or email your suggestions. Thanks Martin

About six months ago I had arranged with two of our daughters who live across the water to do the Caledonian Etape. Unfortunately it turned out that it was on the same day as the Coastal.
I would recommend the Caledonian Etape - especially if it does not clash with our Coastal. It is 83 hilly miles (including a mountain called Schehallion) through stunning scenery from Pitlochrey and is on closed roads. It is run by Marie Curie and there were over 5,000 participants. It was beautifully organised and there was a terrific atmosphere. The weather was cold, breezy and a bit wet but nothing like what you had for the Coastal.

Sounds great, Paul. Pitlochrey seems to be in the middle of nowhere... what was your travel arrangements for getting there?
