Cheers to all the club members who helped out yesterday, especially the small merry crew of clean up folk. Well done to all the racers too. Some close battles as usual. Watched the U10 race and was astounded at Ben's performance. Untouchable. Fraser was close for a long while and in the hunt. Two great racers to watch. Putting on a cx race is not easy. Lots of planning, meetings with the council, arranging first aid, sorting out food, planning the course. We can prepare nothing on site so everything happens from daybreak. Race day itself is a long and busy day. For me 6:20 am to 4:20 am with 2 hours kip and I still didn't get all the results done that I wanted to However, these events are not possible without club volunteers coming along and supporting the event. So a BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU to all those who came along to help. It would not have happened without you. I'm going to name names. Alwynne S, Barry Van K Brendan, Bernie and Aoife M Chris & Gavin M David R Fritz Garry W Gary B Gary & Noel Gi Graeme C John C John McG John S Kyle I Lisa M Martin McA Mervyn K Mike B Michael McG and his wife and daughter, Michael & Nathan M Peter R Philip B Raymund M Ronnie S Steven L Tony M Finally my wife, kids and not forgetting my parents What made life easier was the fact that this was the second time at this venue and most knew how it was laid out last time. I think we put on a great series of races! The event looked great, well 'blinged' up. The course was mucky with the dreaded 'Moira Mud' grinding bikes to a halt. The last lap seems to have been a running one for most of the riders. Perhaps we should add this in as compulsory for all CX races Hopefully the council will be happy to allow us to use the venue next year. They were great to work with providing the venue, barriers, changing facilities and a water tap. Many thanks Lisburn City Council ! Quick thanks to Lance at CycleZone for providing some prizes for the U14 and U16 races. Hopefully I have not left anyone out. If I have let me know. Thanks. Photos and results up on www.ulstercyclocross.com
