With the recent heavy rain it was no surprise that the tow path was flooded. I had stopped earlier in the day at the bridge near Lady Dixon Park to view the extent of the water. Great to look at, not great to ride through. Therefore I sent out a text to see who fancied a 'hilly spin'. John S and I set off around 7:15 from the Civic Centre, went to Lambeg, up through Aberdelghy, onto the Cutts, Derriaghy Road, Barnfield Road, then up onto the hills. We navigated our way towards Divis Road then went up through the cloud to the top of Divis (we think it was the top but you couldn't see!). Took around 1 hr 20 minutes. We then went back the long way heading around Stoneyford then down the White Mountain Road. Back to the Civic Centre after 2 hours 40 minutes. It was a tough run for me. The hills really exposed my time off the bike. John S only has one speed which is same up and down hill. I could keep up with him on the flat but he disappeared into the night on the climbs Super run, mild evening 11c. We could knock a bit of time off that run and use this when the tow path gets flooded again.
