Bit off piste but bear with me, just back from a family overnight camp in the Mournes, Meelmore, Hares Gap, Shelter Stone at Ben Crom - in stead of a take in the scenery moment with the kids - we filled our ruck sacks after breakfast with as much of other peoples crap as we could carry - broken glass everywhere, burned airmatress, energy drink plastic bottles - it may be my grumpy old man moment and its been a while since I camped here but I was embarrassed - has cheaper equipment meant that - to be frank a bunch of even more stupid tossers are now frequenting the hills. Discuss......

Sadly you may be right on the ability to change people - just wondering if the national park status will do anything at all to educate people about leave no trace - in Ireland it seems to be more a case of make your mark -some of the sheep up there have more sense....
I could go on and hay well I will - last year at Meelmore camping just up from the boundary wall I witnessed a group leave their tents and go because it was raining and a bit windy - result the tent eventually ended up the valley along with the contents spewed over the fields = it gets me soooooo angry.....
anyway this is a cycling message board yea

Did you not see the pictures of murlough beach a while back (The last good weekend, about 3 months ago)? Sadly, people in general are scummers

Peter, was up Donard on the 12th and couldn't get over the litter, especially in Donard Wood. Seems to be a serious amount of overnight drinking camps. Not sure how you'd go about solving it though. More scout type school trips to instill decency / respect?

I feel yer pain, Pete... been like that up there the past few times I'd been... absolute scumbags that have no respect for anyone let alone for the environment... there's just a real lack of respect and bad attitude toward most things these days... so sad... for all it take to put the wraper, bottle or packet back in there bag before heading down. Absolute TWATS!!!!
