The National Cross-country championships are taking place in Djouce Wood, Co. Wicklow on Sunday 22 July hosted by Team Worc. This is a pre-entry ONLY event. You cannot sign up on the day. Pre-entry closes on Monday 16 July at 6 pm. Get your entries in now!! I'm heading down from Lisburn. Probably picking up Nathan on the way through. That would mean I could take another bike + rider and also a spectator / cheer leader / video / photographer etc. Let's get all the car sharing sorted out for this one. A link to the pre-entry can be found on www.ulsterxc.com

Martin, I will be going down. I was possibly thinking of making a weekend of it with the family as per last year, but I will check tonight on the accomodation and see what the wife thinks.
I could just as well take that seat!

Just so that I don't enter this for no reason, is there anyone that would have space for my bike, kitbag and I?

Great day yesterday. Brute of a course, hardest race of the season so far Best bit of the course was the XTC, a field of tight and long berms that were class to tackle managed to finish 7th in the Junior race ;D Well done to Barry on a top 10 finish in the Masters, and unlucky to Martin to experienced some technical difficulty were he had to pull out Cheers Martin for the lift

So I've just about recovered mentally and physically... I did a practise lap on the saturday night, was happy with the technical nature of the course. Made the mistake of doing 4 more practise laps to try some faster lines, getting progressively worse on each one. Another bout of practise on the race morning. The course had a lot of fresh sections which hadn't really bedded in and weren't reacting well to the increased traffic and an emergency crisis of confidence led to a tyre change an hour before kick off. Just about got the tyre set up tubeless and popped on the rim with about 20 minutes to warm up and get going. Didn't get a good starting position on the grid and had a crap start, didn't fret immediately but did shortly afterwards as my legs refused point blank to work. I was well out of the race before I punctured on lap 2 losing a few minutes getting it sorted and on my way again. I knew plenty of men had pulled out with mechanicals, of body and bikes so I pushed on in vain. Managed 7th, which in hindsight wasn't so bad but should have been a lot better. As for poor Martin - it should be noted that it was indeed, I, who sabotaged his bike... and all the other guys who pulled out Sorry!!

Barry, many thanks for picking up my bike on Saturday, putting it back together including trying to sort out the mess that was my jockey wheels which were refusing to turn around. Easy mistake on the chain. I want to thank you for providing me with a legitimate excuse to pull out. I was going to pull out for some reason: nose running, back itchy, hair out of place, finger nails dirty, shoe laces undone, any lame excuse I could find. I really did not like the course. Couldn't get going at all. Barry, you saved me from a certain injury from crashing which I would have been doing more of. Grand day out apart from that
