As all of you know, Le Tour de France, the most popular and most challenging cycling event in the world started yesterday, the 30th June. Over the subsequent 23 days the guys taking part in it will cycle a massive 2173 miles around France. Being the person I am I decided to take on a challenge to cycle half the tour distance over the same period of time, that being 1087 miles in 23 days. Since yesterday I have already cycled 127 miles, and I know that completing this will be relatively tough and will take a lot of commitment. Tonight I have received the idea to try and raise money for charity which will help motivate me to complete it as I know it is for a good cause. The chosen charity is Cancer Research UK and I have set a target to raise £500, which is a lot but achievable I think. Depending on how this goes (as this is my first ever attempt at raising money) I would like to raise even more than that If you feel like contributing please message me, and I could arrange to see you personally with the sponsorship form. Or, for those in possession of a credit/debit card, you can go to my JustGiving page (here: www.justgiving.com/awilson-letourchallenge ) and 'donate' directly to the charity after filling in some details. Cancer has affected all of us in some way or another. Every little bit of money helps in getting rid of it, no matter how small. Thank you all very much for reading

Thanks a lot Marty! Anyway, yes now that Marty has said, I'll just inform everyone that is interested that I completed the challenge yesterday with only two miles to spare after cycling to the top of Slieve Croob to finish talk about leaving it to the last minute. Thanks to all the people that donated! I'm hoping to take on the Sportive as Marty said, and would love to see a lot of people pushing their boundaries as well that day Should see you there Marty!
