Just back from a nice weekend in Munich. Saturday - bike tour of the city with these guys www.mikesbiketours.com/ Good laugh. 27 on the tour. Sunny day. Beer garden for lunch. 11:30 - 3:30. Sunday - hired bikes from the same company. Cycled up to Schloss Nymphenburg seen nearby beer garden, onto Olympic Park Seen BMW Welt (fancy showroom) Home via English Park (another beer garden) The day started damp but the sun came out around lunch time and it was then blue skies all day. Monday. Took the hire bikes on the train down to Lake Starnberg. Again wet to start but sky cleared and it turned out a warm day. Started 10:30. Finished cycle at 5:30. Tuesday. Finished trip with more site seeing but without the bikes. My wife doesn't cycle so 3 days back to back on the bike was good going for her!! Hell of a way to celebrate one's 40th birthday. Not quite the pomp and circumstance of others but I had a great time in Munich. There are cycle lanes EVERYWHERE. A lane on every footpath or a red lane on the road. Drivers looking out for you. Supposedy 14% of all daily trips are made on the bike. Almost no-one wears a helmet. Flat as a pancake!!! Perfect for a nice weekend away. Recommended!
