Our commander and chief (Martin) couldn't make it tonite. Five of us met at the Civic Centre. Myself, Gibson, Ronan, Stefan and Bobby was back on his Hybrid. Another mild night, no wind or rain.
We left at seven sharp, Gibson and I leading setting a nice steady pace. We had to ease of as Ronan and Stefan were struggling to warm up. At the footbridge Bobby decided to bid us farewell. Four left, all over the bridge with Gibson setting the pace to the ring. After a brief discussion we lined up for the sprint. Stefan counted down, Ronan got off to a blinding start way out in front, I managed to pass him just before the rise up to the gate. ( phew got that one just!!!!).
We took Ronan's route into MInnowburn. I took over as head gateman into the trees ( sorry Martin ur sacked!!!!). I led up the climb for the usuall run round here. Gibson attacked the climb before vomit ridge sparking me into a chase I managed to pass him. I wasn't aware of any challengers up vomit ridge tho. All regrouped and off for the loop round the car park. I was in front with Gibson close behind. Still no challengers on the return to the car park.
Lovely spin out to Stranmillis and round the meadows, we took the grass path this week. Gibson and Ronan were both struggling to select gears through the dips which allowed me to get through first he he.....
Back to shaws for Cardiac hill, Gibson was first up I was second. No hanging about past three shadow men and on towards the running track, then through the BMX track which all riders exited successfully.
It was only then we realised it was only 8.40. "I wonder if we can be back at the car before 9.00?" I pondered out loud. Gibson suggested we forget the sprint and push hard the whole way home. Gibson and I led with Ronan and Stefan tucked in behind. It was quick, my garmin read beetween 17 & 19 mph. We left Stefan at Lambeg time was 8.53. Off we went, same pace as before we got back with 30 seconds to spare.
Ronan decided with the arches in sight he was going to go for glory, he shot past Gibson and I to be first through the arches grrrr....
As usuall another great run looking foward to next week.
P.S could someone explain how to do them wee smiley faces Martin does plz?
