Only 4 of us out for a wet one last night at Lisburn. Kyle, Alan, John and I waited until just after 7 and then it was time to make a move before we got even wetter. Before we even made it through the arches, there was mumblings of only doing a half-loop but we pushed on determined to make it a good one. It was a fast one down Lady Dixon with Kyle and Alan leading at the front with John and I tucked in behind, unable to see a thing from the driving rain and eating the crap off the front wheel. No hanging about at the first checkpoint and it was off again towards Giants Ring. All up and over the red bridge, along a slippy tow path and to the ring – no race tonight – and out the other side to nettle lane. No sprint to Minnowburn (Torchy you were missed and into the Tow Path again where we seen a load of runners on the other side of the path where 26Extreme were holding an event. Into Belvoir where they’ve fixed the gate and through the intersection and then up to Vomit Ridge. It didn’t look like anyone was going to challenge for it until it was quite clear John and Kyle were having a tussle. It looked like Kyle took it just at the end with not much in it. No hanging about, quick regroup and then up along the golf course. At the hairpin right, Alan over shot and was still making his turn in the bushes haha, over the river and then up Alan’s Revenge. The group was quite tight together and then John shot through to take the win comfortably, followed by me and the others. Stranmillis to Lagan Meadows, back to the Lock Keepers and up to Cardiac Hill. We were soaked and cold and didn’t want to hang about so as soon as the last man made it up it was onward home. At the Mary Peter’s jumps, I decided to take the chicken-run down the runner path leaving the others to face Grimley’s Gorge. I arrived at the other side just in time to catch them and see John track-standing on the verge – deciding whether to roll it or get off. He chose the latter and the rest of the group wisely followed suit – far too slippy according to the experts. A quick dash back to Lisburn with Alan and I on the front and then John came through to take his place. Just past the bench I nearly lost it in a wide turn and just couldn’t regain my momentum. Alan came through and he and John took off for the sprint home, with not too many complaints from Kyle and I who were mangled . John took the win comfortably according to Alan – he was definitely the man to beat tonight. 2 hours and 23.6 miles round trip, better than a night in watching “I’m a Celebrity...” connect.garmin.com/activity/130781180

Where you come under the water pipes in Belvoir and are coming back to the car park... there's a slow climb back with a post in the middle. It was so named for when I scalped Alan and he declared "I must have a puncture as there's no way Adrian is beating me" lol. And he did have a puncture haha

Key: Cardiac Hill: is the one beside Shaws Bridge taking you up to Malone House. Last hill of the night; Bummer Lane: Where the "Tree people" stand awaiting a buck - after Cardiac Hill; Vomit Ridge: The hill from Belvoir up to the main car park; Alan's Revenge: See previous Grimley's Gorge: The dip after the jumps at Mary Peter's leading you back onto the Tow Path.
