Leap year day. Just 3 out again, Alan, Dennis and me. A clear night, no moon, with the stars showing clearly, Orion's belt off to our right as we headed down the tow path from the Civic Centre. A cold night. Alan and I on the front with Dennis tucked in behind - still with the jumpy gears. Over Gilchrist Bridge with Dennis leading us to the Giant's Ring. I lead us round (to help maintain a sensible pace!). At the Ring we met some walkers and a dog coming across the centre past the stones. We'd meet them again later in the evening. Out the other side, down Ronan's way with Dennis and I taking the shortcut this time. Headed to Belvoir. Up them nasty climbs. We decided not to head for the Lagan Gateway Bridge tonight so it was up Vomit Ridge to the car park and then around the loop and back to the car park again. Back onto the main tow path with Dennis still at the front. Back to Shaw's bridge. Into the trees. That's when we came across the walkers again. Dennis getting told off for not ringing his bell. Fair play to the walkers for spotting that Dennis was the only one with a bell!! I then lead us to the MTB tracks. Out of Barnett's and over to Lady Dixon. A quick spin through the park and drop back to the tow path. No head wind tonight but the cold was setting in. A great night. We parted ways at the Civic Centre and I cycled home. Door to door was 40.43 km ~ 25.1 miles.
