New Year, New Me?
Just 3 of us out tonight. Alan, Dennis and me. Stewart still with back issues, Kyle busy, Ronan recovering from (man) flu.
A dry evening with little wind but quite cool - 6 degrees. We set off at 7. The first time for a few weeks. Not a lot of cycling done over the Christmas period for any of us.
Dennis and I on the front with Alan behind with no light on. Conserving battery. We headed over the bridge towards Giant's Ring. Alan out the front driving hard up the hills. This man only has one speed when it comes to hills - flat out!!! His only hinderance was the light he had which seems to shine sideways and not out the front. We did come across a man in dark clothes with a dark coloured dog. Squeezing past we set off towards the ring. At the ring I gave Alan one of my new lights so at least he could see what was ahead of him. Headed down Ronan's way with Dennis leading and taking a very wide final corner heading onto the grass. We continued to Belvoir but didn't go in - saving ourselves this week. We turned and headed back towards Shaw's bridge. Through the gate we took the middle path and headed into the forest. We picked up the MTB trails for some slippery action. I was leaded and went off track at one corner with Alan brushing past me. We got going again, climbing up past Mary Peter's track. We went towards Lady Dixon Park but we got split up with Alan and Dennis heading on the road while I waited for them at the entrance. All gathered up we zipped though Lady Dixon Park and dropped down to the tow path again. Dennis was on the front setting a strong pace. I couldn't keep up. I dropped behind Alan struggling to hold on. My legs had gone at this stage. All back safe. A great night. Hopefully out next week.
