First error of the season striked off it no longer at the Old Belfast Road but the course used for the Harry Ferguson otherwise known as magheraconluce!
As with tradition, there are NO A3, A2, A1 riders participating. Spirit of the race is to encourage new riders to take part and gives the other riders a chance to shine before the league points kick into play.
Group 1: Leisure riders, juniors and first time members
Group 2: Competitive riders, Club A, B and C run level above a 16mph average
Group 3: A4 License holders (or those that have downrated from A3) and seasoned riders that are too fast for the other two groups.
Group 1 sets off at 7pm Group 2 sets off 7:03pm Group 3 sets off 7:05pm
# of laps? - 4 laps Rear lights are a must for the evening, it is still not light enough to ride home without lights. Sign on from 6:30pm onwards seek out Martin and the Chief Marshal for instructions.

Thanks to all the marshal's for keeping it safe and shouting words of abuse err I mean encouragement! lol
But I do wonder why at least 4 A4 Racers who have finished open racing in top 20 placing's felt the need to be put into group 2 and more to the point were allowed to???
I was the only A4 Racer that followed the rules it seems.
Have a bit of integrity guys its not like the Grouping criteria wasn't posted up in advance as above!

Johny I think you'll find that we went out in our published group. Riders you should've went out in group 2 either didn't ride, or chose to upgrade themselves, which is their prerogative. There was an introduction of a 4th group as there were A3's who wanted to ride. Having had the two highest placing A4 finishes in open races this year, including the a win (well done again). You are effectively A3 standard, as is reflected in the fact you closed the handicap with only a handful of riders. If this race was a week or two later you'd have been in the A3 group fair and square. Take it as a compliment to your abilities and a gauntlet thrown down to prove something, that's what I did having been put in the scratch group last year having never raced in my life.

After just catching up on this thread I think Mr McCann has rebutted a perfect answer, it needs no more expanding on. Congratulations to catching that bunch Johny as you can see the times were very well matched to get people finishing on the last lap all together. We can only deal with what turns up on the night. Its the first race of the league and grouping will be tough till the evidence/form/fitness shows.
Thanks to all involved I thought the race went well.

Its the first race of the league and grouping will be tough till the evidence/form/fitness shows. Thanks to all involved I thought the race went well. Just to be clear the groups were published up before the night clearly stating A4 Racers would be in top AKA scratch group. I rocked up not sure if id even race as I had a calf injury and on cycling over it was tight but when asked for confirmation that I was in group 3 I said, "Yes with the rest of the A4 Racers" Nobody actually said that 4 of the guys Id been racing in 2017 with that at many times had also been ahead of me in open A4 races were going to be getting to go off in group 2! Anyway yes its "Only a club race" but this should highlight the need for fairness in ability of club racers and as it was only my first club race i'll know from now on to double check the groupings list on the night.
