CL Rnd 19 - Flatfields Road Race

Thursday Night finally sees the Flatfield Road Race taking place. Barra tells me the rain will have passed and it will be a warm dry evening. Martin will be bringing the biscuits, tea and coffee.

We have been given permission to park at the Elim Church on the Moira Road. (Hope this is correct)

This is of great benefit to the club and we should all ensure that we do not jeopardise this arrangement by ensuring that we respect the site especially with regard to other users and ensuring that we remove all of our litter.

We also need a lead car if anyone can volunteer for this please?

Before I compile the results I wish to thank all the volunteers tonight, without whom we would not be enjoying road racing on a beautiful August evening. (It was a bit windy apparently, but the wind was warm).

Corner 3 had a bit of an issue with a farmer who was out to cut the hedges and wasn't for taking any input from the marshals. Thanks to the marshals for warning the riders about the hedge cutting. Many thanks to Ryan C for coming along and marshalling despite just coming to watch for a while and wanting to leave early.

Note for next year - Corner 4 could do with another marshal. The timekeepers could have done with another helper. Therefore we need 16 to run this race effectively.

6 laps of "fun" with only a few non-club members dropping out. If any club members had dropped out we would have relieved you Ryan, honest!

The race went well although some controversy about some guy who sorted out the handicaps for the groups and then goes on to win the race! He had two others on the podium who weren't making any complaints!!
