This year we have decided to use another clubs course offering a very flat option compared the usual lumpy roads. It is however located in Warrenpoint which involves some travel. Club standings will only include the Dromara Riders with handicaps to follow. Some information: - Sign on from 6pm
- First rider off @ 6:30pm
- License Number required (Cycling Ireland)
- Rear light is a must
- Sign on fee: £5
- Be careful on the dual carriageway!
There is car parking near the start/sign-on. However it does get busy so try to get there early - first come, first served basis. Other areas such as lay-by I have seen used and the pay-and-display at the town center. At sign on mention you are with Dromara CC and TVR will send me a list later on from the results sheet. Any other information in case it has been missed off will follow.

Has Warrenpoint suddenly moved closer to Dromara? I seem to remember the last time we organised a race in that neck of the woods everyone said it was to far away to help out.
Not to mention it's on a Wednesday with sign on at 6pm. If the club wants to promote the TVR series fair enough but to include it in the club league unfairly disadvantages anyone who can't leave work early from a round of our league.

Can't make this one, either, but fair play for trying to mix things up and introduce something different to the club league.

For those who are planning on attending the sign-on is open up until 7pm.
We aim to take an open approach for our events and this is something we are trying out that is new. It is a fast flat course on a typically well run event, there is also no marshal issues to take care of. We do acknowledge the cons for using this event too.
The best 15 rounds of the league are taken over the year so I think there is little advantage if any for those who do make this round. If you cannot make it - it should not affect your overall standing. TVR are aware that Dromara are attending - using it for the club and I hear so to are the Newry Wheelers.
We cannot please everyone all of the time! There is opportunity to input actively on these matters by the committee and the race panel (sadly not many people wanted to get involved in this).
I have arranged a vote form to be available at the end of season (thanks to Richard Cowan) on our web site to gather some feedback on the league.
Have fun and ride safely!

Totally understand your concerns John. We're not asking members to marshal or volunteer so I'm not sure the comparison with Kilbroney is entirely valid, however I agree it's definitely not ideal to ask members to travel to Warrenpoint for a club league event and the timing will be difficult or even impossible for some (myself included). It is an experimental idea with the idea of giving members something different to the usual courses and I'd ask everyone to be understanding and open minded. If turnout is low or the consensus of feedback from members afterwards is negative, we'll not do it again, but as they say, try everything at least once!

I got round to updating the round 7 information thanks to Martin and his spreadsheet wizardry keeping us right for god knows how many rounds to date. Take a look, it was a good turnout with great times on the night:
