The Kelly Race - Round #1

The new season is almost here and the clocks are going forward to begin the change of the years calendar. Just a fortnight ahead, Thursday night (31st March) we are holding The Kelly road race round as the first instalment for the club league!

Marshals are to be based from the scratch group and fast riders (a3 category upwards) as they are taking a back seat this round in the spirit to promote the participation of newer riders and casual members in the club. Its aim is to make it accessible to all - with a greater inclusion and of course -some fun!

The winner of the race gets a ___ (TBA).

Prerequisite?
What we need is for the riders to let us know they are coming along so we can sort out the groups in advance.

Gareth just to clarify, this race is just open to A4 Riders + Club racers from Dromara CC only?
If that's correct i'll maybe give it a rattle as well for the craic, my name had originaly been down to marshall that night but i'll pick another date later in the season if that's ok?

Update! I'll marshall the Clonvaraghan Hill Climb on July14th instead.

Not sure who is on race panel. Here are some suggestions/observations to consider....or not.

Eddie D definitely needs to go in at least Gp2. He has ridden in ABBA groups and some weeks in A group comfortably all Winter.

Jack is either scratch or gp3. Rides in A group and is in the "mix" every week. I would leave Aaron in gp 2 as he is only back after breaking his leg.
Trevor B., Michael & Neil F. need to move to GP 3......all ride or are capable of riding with A group. Not sure of Trevor W form, but normally rides gp3.
Other possibles for GP 3... Peter B.,Marty, Barry, Marcus

Thanks Stephen. Groups will receive a shake up (before Thursday) as over the long week where the TON deflected the attention away, lets just say I have been receiving 'feedback' on the topic. As you cannot keep everyone happy and it may take a few rounds to get form and ability settled its par for the course!

Information for this Thursday's Kelly road race:

Sign on is to be 18:30 onwards, but we want to get a move on as the daylight is limited and much to do.
Race starts at 19:00 sharp.
4 laps pencilled in as we want to wrap it up and get home safely.

Plenty of marshals are needed, if anyone of the scratch or experienced members wants to volunteer to be head marshal now then that would be great!
