I have a Kurt Kinetic too (my acquisition of said KK is still a touchy subject with Redgie). Don't dare ask me how much it was but, suffice to say, the guy's arm is hanging on my wall, like a trophy. Anyhow, go with a fluid turbo - so much better than a mag trainer.

It depends on your budget. I've had a 50 quid cheapo from amazon then a reputable fluid one which was still as noisy. Ended up with a mag trainer which was mid range But found it the most suitable.
The Kurt kinetics do look like more fun than the rest with the ability to shift the bike with your weight.
The secret I think however is in buying a turbo trainer tyre. I was sceptical how much better it would be than the worn road tyre I'd been using. It makes life a lot quieter and the smoothness is noticeably improved. For the 15 quid ( ribble does a vittoria zaffiro I use at that price) it is a worthwhile purchase regardless Of what trainer you use/buy.

The one thing needed for turbo training is motivation and "entertainment" Check out www.trainerroad.comAlso using a Kurt kinetic Here. The fluid unit feels nicer than others I've tried. Trainer road has a reliable power curve for it too so you can train to virtual power. Ali is right about turbo specific tyres. Another thing worth considering is a close ratio cassette that doesn't have big gaps in the gearing.
