Thursday night sees the return to the Downpatrick Road. REMEMBER - NO DRAFTING!!! Due to quite a few members sneaking off to their warm weather training camp we are low on marshals. Volunteers down for this one - Ivan B, Colin R, Bernie M & Gary B We need 6 for this. Post here or text me if you can help out. Meet 6:30, start 7pm. Remember rear lights! Another beautiful evening on the Downpatrick Road. Warm with hardly a breeze (at the start area!) - but we did hear that there was a cross wind along the route! Many thanks to the timekeepers Ronnie S and Matthew A, assisted by Ryan C, photographs by Matthew G. Thanks to the turn marshals - Bernie, Gary G and Ivan B. We must get the marshals out on site earlier as our first rider arrived before they did Thankfully it was Gavin who knew where to turn as he had marked it ! Many thanks to the football club for letting us park our cars there and to the farmer who let me park my car on site. Many thanks also to the parents who are coming along, wearing the hi-viz vests and helping to keep the riders safe. It was wonderful to see Ted McKibbin back out with the club. Ted, for those of you who don't know, was involved in an accident during a bike race in 2013 which left him paralysed. This didn't stop this him though. He has been beavering away on the hand cycle and has taken part in a couple of other events. He let me know in advance that he would turn up tonight and told me that he would take about an hour and a half to do the route. Naturally, I didn't believe him because I knew he wouldn't be taking part if he could only do that time. I was right. He was back within the hour. Well done that man! Trooper! A big turn out despite the large contingent of club riders messing about in Mallorca   |

And now for the scores on the doors with regards to the club league points. For those of you who took part in the league last year, your time handicap has been brought forward to this year to see how you compare. For those of you new to our club league, we have given you a default value to get you started. Your time tonight will feed into your time handicap going forward. Well done to young Jack who has greatly improved over the winter and to the not so young Gareth W! Also big improvements, probably from cyclo-cross, for Richard, Graham McC has been putting the miles in as has dark horse Robert McD. Trevor B has been filling up Strava with big long cycles so we were expecting, and got, great improvements from him.  |
