Hi Garry, yes I'm hoping to get out this evening. Weather forecast doesn't look too bad, so maybe Messrs Roy and Grimley will venture out as well... for anyone who is interested but doesn't know the details, meet Lisburn Civic Centre for 7pm start. last chance before Christmas!!

Man flu had hit me on Wednesday lunch time. Streaming eyes and nose and felt like my brian was a thick custard that was struggling with my work that day. I cycled home from work with a throat raw and legs heavy. Home, ate, pampered, slumped in front of the TV where I caught some sleep. Thursday morning still felt dreadful. Found out that if I lay my head on the desk at work for a few minutes then that seems to help. No decision on tow path run. Had dinner, tasty soup followed by a full meal. I then felt - why not? So I met Garry W and Graham B at the Civic Centre. I tucked in behind these two as we set off toward Belfast at a good pace. Must be a tail wind!. At Lady Dixon we took a break from the usual route and headed up through the Park towards Mary Peter's track. We started the trail centre from the trail head. Exited at Shaw's then headed for Stranmillis and up to Starbucks for our Christmas coffee treat. Thanks for the coffees Garry! On the way back we headed to Lagan Meadows for the first time in ages. Those dips are still a killer. Garry flying through them like a whippet. Back to the tow path and we headed for home. Skipped Cardiac Hill as it was 8:45. Graham and I were on the front for a good while until I started to struggle. I then tucked in behind him. He got wise to this and in the last section he tucked in behind Garry. Garry was heading us back home. I was keeping back half a wheel on him. Sprint bridge came and went. No sprint. We were motoring on well. I was poised. Graham B, despite his height, was slip streaming the smaller Garry. Graham was poised as well. I'm not sure what would have happened if Garry had kicked for the finish but in the end there was no sprint. All back safe and sound. A great evening on the path. Mild, no rain and just a bit of a head wind on the way back.
