First night back to the tow path. Lovely evening, warm, barely a breeze. Four of us there. Adrian, Colin R, Martin McA and me. We set off at 7 pm with Colin and Adrian setting a quick pace. Lots of walkers, joggers and other cyclists out. (note to self, we need louder bells, horns etc to get through to the ipod wearers!). Over the footbridge for a nice spin towards Giant's Ring. Bumped into Sonia who was out walking. Tried to convince her to join us on the MTBs next week. Nice quick run around the ring and out the other side. Down nettle lane which was quite overgrown. I was the only one in leggings so the other three got stung Pushed on along the road and back into Shaw's bridge. Nice run through the trees (oh how we forget how tight those climbs are). It was starting to get dark now so the lights went on. We did the usual loop from the car park and back before heading out of the trees and onto the tow path again. Nice run then to Stranmillis before turning to head back through the Meadows. Steady push back to Shaw's bridge for the climb up cardiac hill. We didn't hang about tonight hardly stopping at any of the usual places. Martin McA did really well for his first time around our route. Pushed on to Mary Peter's track and then out through the BMX jumps. I successfully exited the dip at the bottom, Martin McA attemped but failed, Colin R took a wrong line, Adrian went into the mud then lay down just to show Martin McA what not to do !! Steady run then back to base without the usual lifting of speed at the "bench" hill. I started to struggle at this point. My lower back was in bits, legs sore, I was suffering. Ran out of water as well. Started going out the back. The lads did wait but it wasn't long before I was dropped again. Really struggling to get back. All back for 9:15. Luckily I had another drink in the car. That helped but I did not feel right. Started shivering. Got into the house and had to wrap myself in a blanket. Body went downhill. Realised later that I have picked up the 'bug' my daughter has had this week. Decided to take the day off work as I was in no fit shape this morning. Drugs have kicked in so I am able to write this now. Looking forward to next week, especially if we get a nice an evening as this was.

Good run last night - felt like just last week when the Winter runs ended for last season and the temperature was sweet at 15 degrees...can't see us being so lucky in December! Tbf you looked a mess back at the car park but I didn't want to say anything in case I made it worse - you were really really white ! Checking the stats this morning it said: 20miles Lisburn to Lisburn Avg 10.5mph Max 24.5mph (on the way back . Hopefully more out next week! A.

Lovely night ... lets hope for more like that! Could do with less walkers though. Haven't these people got televisions? Tired legs this morning when cycling into Belfast, probably won't be any better on the way home Hope you're over the bug soon Martin
