The closing date for entry to this years National Cyclo-cross Championships is this Sunday (5th January). You will need your 2014 licence number. See other post on how to get this. This is a pre-entry only event. Click here for a link to the website. |

The National Cyclocross Championships takes place this Sunday at Lady Dixon Park in Belfast. Dromara CC will have representation in the Elite ( Richard Cowan, John Shanks, Mr BVK ), Ladies ( Lisa Millar ) and Veterans race ( haggard old boys Martin Grimley and myself ).
Due to subtle pressure ( or was it goading ) put on Dromara riders by Mr BVK to enter full championship races, the club will have no representation in the supporting B ( bangers ) race.
Not being able to make the practice day at the course on Saturday, I headed down today to practice my skills ( if falling off is a skill ? ) I had an expert in attendance to show me how it should be done, and all was going well, I was even mastering the hump and corner which caught me out 3 times at the race there in the Ulster CX series. Then on to carnage corner, which presented no problems in the previous race. However, at carnage corner and a later section with a slight off-camber, I managed to hit the ground twice, and it could have been many many MANY more times only for some great skill...or lots of luck, maybe ? Sunday will be interesting !
Good Luck to all Dromara riders, have a good race, and as for me, I will take heed off a quote from a Zen master ( I think ) that said...its not serious, its only cyclocross.

There is a mtb run leaving lady Dixon car park beside the coffee shop at 9.30 Sunday. 4 confirmed hope to be out for 2 hrs and then support/rescue Dromara cc riders.
