Ok, let's get started. I'll be heading down the tow path this Thursday night. Meet at 6:45 at the back of the Civic Centre. Set off at 7pm for roughly 2 hours.
We have to come up with a new route this year to take in the trails.
Let me know if you are going to come along.

There is a car park opposite where you drive into the civic centre. I can't imagine it would require payment after 6pm

A great first night on the tow path. Just Garry and myself with lots of excuses handed in from the others. I cycled down to Lambeg to join Garry. It was a wet evening but not cold. Lots of surface water so you were getting wet from two directions. With the new trails in place we haven't quite fixed a new route for Thursday nights so, instead of hitting the mud of the "trees" we headed to the trails. Cycled up to the trail head at Mary Peters and set off around the blue route initially. This was a challenge, not least because this was the first time going around the trails in the dark, but it was raining, the track was wet, there has been quite significant leaf fall so it was hard to follow the trail at times and I was on my cross bike. Lots of fun had in trying to get stopped in time for the tight corners. After the first lap Garry got me to take over the front. I think he was wanting to see me crash!! I took on the red route with its little drop offs. It was all going ok until I went around one corner, couldn't quite see where the path was going next (leaf fall again) and went off track, a big off, flat on the ground, elbows and knees took a thump and now covered in mud. But, bike ok, limbs still worked, back on the bike to finish the loop. After this we decided to cycle to Stranmillis for a bit of on-tarmac cycling. A great spin down, quick turn around and then a strong pace home. This really did blow out the cobwebs. I haven't cycled this hard in months. We both left the path at Lambeg and cycled over towards the Belsize Road where we split company. I struggled up the hill towards my house only thankful that Garry was not around to see how slow I was going. A great night out. Back home to the routine of cleaning the bike, the boots and the clothing. Was fit for nothing else last night. But back on the bike this morning to commute into work.
Roll on next week.
