Right, at long last this has just been made official yesterday I think? 29th September - Ballyhoura - 75km There is a support race of 35km for anyone who prefers not to have a saddle imprint on their backside for a week afterwards. I got the green light for it last night, so its bye bye strava hunting, hello long endurance rides now for the next 2 months. Anyone else fancy it? Some early info on the event: www.biking.ie/champsIf you've never been down before, Ballyhoura is probably the longest trail centre in the world ever. I went a few years ago and it was boring and the trails were wide and smooth. I went again the summer before last to race the Singlespeed world champs, thinking I was going to smoke everyone on my wee rigid steel bike. Oh Boy was I wrong, it had roughened up and matured brilliantly and was a fabulous ride, but hard on the arms with the rigid fork.

Sounds good Barry. I'll need to get my permission slip in. And a babysitter sorted. Let me know when you're heading out for your training runs please...

3 rides a week Peter. You can definitely train for this stuff on the road. Aim to build up to about 4 hours of riding at your tempo pace and you will be fit to fly on the downhills. Start off with rides of about 2 hours and work it up over the time between now and then if you are planning the 75km distance.
Would be a good way to sign of the XC season for our merry bunch of riders?
