Just one week until the next cross-country race which takes place in Kilbroney Park in Rostrevor (Saturday 3 August). Dromara CC is hosting this round which is part of the World Police and Fire Games. We would need volunteers to help run the race and for riders to get pre-registered to take part. The link to pre-registration is given here www.ulsterxc.comLet me know if you can help out. The course will be taped out on Thursday, practice day on Friday with race on Saturday.

Not including riders from the island of Ireland, there will be representatives from 16 other countries coming to race. Anyone know how to say "the bike wash is over there" in Mongolian?

Since when did I get so polite? I'll need translations for: "Are your brakes rubbing? Or why are you going so slow?" "Did you forget to put water in that bottle or something?" "You've got a flat chain" "Hurry up - Here come the Under 14s!"

Many thanks to Glynn O'Brien, CRC, Newry and Mourne council, the Volunteer Now guys, Ian Brown for commentating and to my folks for all their support. I hope those who rode the course enjoyed it. For those who came along to spectate, I hope the event looked well. I personally had a ball. The international visitors were great fun. Kilbroney is a great venue and it remained mostly dry and sunny all weekend. I'm proud to have been part of the World Police and Fire Games. A write up and links to photos is on www.ulsterxc.com
