Road Race - 25 July - Maze Long Kesh

We have just received permission to hold tomorrow night's club road race at the Maze Long Kesh site. This is a new venue for the club but has been used by other cycling clubs this year.

The course is around the old prison on a non-public road circuit of approximately 2 miles. There are 4 corners which will need 1 marshal at each.

The course would be ideal for beginners and youth so we'd like to get a volunteer to escort and organise a Group 1.

Meeting up at 6:30. Car park beyond the security barriers on the right hand side. Toilets on site.

A great night on a new circuit. Hardly a car around. Thankfully the heavy rain and thunder clouds had passed leaving a pleasant dry evening.

Thanks to the timekeepers Lisa and Colin R who had a devil of a job sorting out who was where in the race as Group 1 had a lap up on everyone else.

Well done to Matthew A for winning and to all the others for taking part.

Well done to young Matthew on the win last , we were together for over 6 of his laps last nite ( i was a lap behind!) really strong rider + a great prospect for the future. 22av for 20 miles for someone so young is no mean feat.

Super race, thanks to all involved in securing the venue and the time keepers and marshalls.
Found that really hard, its been months since I took part in a road race or any club round. Can we have a round in an unnamed forest some time soon?!

Any chance of a downgrade to group 2 again Chris? I could only manage 2 laps with group 3 before being dropped on Thurs nite, can't even blame the hills this time! Dont know where i'm going wrong tbh, have been training hard since March but havent seen much improvement. Any advice from anyone at the club would be much appreciated.

slowcoach thats not a problem just come to me or gavin at start of the race and we,l sort you out.its always good to give yourself a wee push but if your not enjoying it its no fun.as for the training its hard to beat mr stephen wallace or any of the boys who race just come tell us what your doin and we,l try and help out any way we can.anahilt phonebox on tuesdays at 6.15 your more than welcome.
