Many thanks to Stephen, Peter and Niall for setting up this round of the trail quests. 36 teams had pre-entered but the band of snow across the middle of the country seems to have prevented 12 teams from coming along. As mentioned there was no snow in Downpatrick, a few spells of sleet but it didn't lie. Some great trails in this area but the strong cold wind made going tough. I encountered quite a challenging final point (D) which went from grass, to mud, to a stream to a "lane lake". A long run through knee deep freezing water was horrid!!! Fantastic stew and soup and bread and tea and coffee back at the GAA club (many thanks to them). Changing facilities there too. Many thanks to young Conor for the sign on and to the food providers. I had Massimo in my team this week. He lasted until point E when he picked up a puncture. Try as we could we could not get the tyre off the rim. Brand new tyre. Seems to have been glued on there!! That ended Massimo's run but I pushed on. Massimo did text later to say that brute force finally worked (but only in the comfort and warmth of home!).
