MTB league starting 19th April in a venue close to Newcastle. New format with 8-12 min laps. There will be a group start. Riders should have a number attached to bike to aid timekeeper. The number of laps will depend on ability. 7.15 start. PS Bryce's new watch has arrived and he has volunteered to take timekeeper training.

If anyone is stuck for a number I have a few that I have collected over the years... Hopefully Martin didn't hear that...

I'd be surprised Barry if you take down any from your wall of race numbers.
I thought they were your special treasures for completing in races!!

Thanks to all involved for a great night on the bikes. Course was excellent, riding really well and the weather was perfect! Its not about the winning, in fact quite the opposite. If anyone is considering giving it a go they should use these races to see what all the fuss is about. Great craic and a bit of racing thrown in. Just a side note for the MTB committee, I propose a new rule: If you miss ONE week AND its a Full moon, you should forfeit ALL points gained in previous rounds, ONLY IF your name rhymes with Schbarry Schkellet. Just so happens next week someone MAY fall into that category, not quite sure who, so its one to look out for... As you'll appreciate this is in the interest of keeping everything fair ;D

I know it was for me anyway. Over 40 minutes at harder than race pace! I heard of a new motion intending to strip past titles off people who don't own watches.

Welcome to DCC Aidy! How'd you hear about my injury? someone must have let it slip...
I don't worry about points or bonus points, your only racing against yourself end it day.

Dromara mtb club league report 19/4/2013 Some of the usual suspects and some new faces gathered on Friday night in a secret location for the first night of the club mtb league/training session. The weather was dry if not a little chilly, but this was soon forgotten as the practice lap soon warmed us all up enough to loose some layers before the big race! The course had been marked out and was mostly dry with maybe a few slippy bits and even a river crossing for good measure. Great job Brian, I think everyone present would agree. We tried a different format for our first night this time with everyone heading out for the practice lap together and then a group start for the main event, with the different ages/abilities doing a set amount of laps. Two for the younger riders and four for the rest of us except for one who I think did five! (With the main objective not to be lapped by the five lap man!) The climb at the start was enough to get the heart going for the rest of the mostly single track course which didn't allow for very many places for passing, if you're into that sort of thing. The course would cater for all levels of ability with some intending on using these nights as training for the current xc races and others just wanting to spend time on their mtbs. So why not come along and give it a go. You might even enjoy it!
