Harry Ferguson Road Race

This Thursday will be the Harry Ferguson road race starting from the memorial site on the Magheraconluce Road.

Last year at this event there was a bad crash with serious injuried to John McG, Stephen Y, Alan McM and Mary H.

Hopefully this year will be without incident

There will be motobike support from the Ghostriders.

I just happened to stumble upon the course on my way home from work tonight...

Two sets of glass over the road on the Rafferty hill section about 1/4 mile apart on either side of the road. If anyone is down early with a brush it might save a few punctures

And there is quite a gathering of gravel on the last corner at the junction of dromara rd and magheraconluce rd

Just a quick message to the person that took the time last night the break glass on the back hill and add some extra paint on the finish line ........ No doubt you will look in on the website to see if it was mentioned ...... Needless to say it took a bit of extra work today to clear the track for tonight's race so you were just wasting your time if you think it would affect Dromara CC ..............you also might be interested to know that due to metal theft a security camera was installed last year at the Ferguson monument and your actions were caught on camera ...... Nice one

Super race tonight in seriously hot conditions ...well done Gavin on the win,Ron 2nd and Van Kellet 3rd.Handicap just about spot on with the catch coming on the last lap with about 2 ml to go.Great turnout of riders and marshals made for a good safe race.
A special well done to Matty Taggart and Mark Downey of Banbridge who rode in the scratch after competing in the Errigal youth tour at the wknd with Mark taking the KOH and Matty taking the points jersey...and good luck to them both next week as they go to Germany to race with the talent team.
Again and thanks to all and a great nights craic just to many hills ;D

Here here Deek. A really enjoyable night out on the bike. Thanks to Davy Chambers for riding the last couple of laps with me as I got dropped off the back of the group... Dammit!

Just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to our timekeepers, Davy and Colin.

It didn't help that I had forgotten the sign on sheets and time keeping sheets. They were coping with a few sheets torn out of a jotter!!!

Many thanks to Ronnie's better half who went in search of A4 paper for us to use. Great job done in the end. I'll post up the times shortly.

Unreal night's racing ;D group 3 worked well all night to hold off the scratch til the 2nd last corner! Had to empty the tank to hold on to the remaining scratch riders til the finish but was happy to be there to contest the sprint thanks to everyone who helped tonight, and well done to Gavin for winning

great night, and nice to see some new members for the club, heaven help them they had to marshall on their first visit but lovely guys, Martin and Nathan?
Well done to Gavin, Ronnie and Barry(podium) Kellet, strong riding from scratch. Especially nice to see other clubs represented tonight, even the other " dromara" club on the finish line .

Now to the man who tried very unsucessfully to sabotage the race, not once but twice!! ( sorry if you can't pronounce sabotage, it's in the cirriculum for next years languages course), why go to all that trouble? , thankfuly with the security cameras we can now all have a good laugh about it , does he drive a skip lorry? (ad lib there sorry)
