Barry, thanks for the top report once again. I can think of many words to describe my first CX race, but "brutal" is probably the most appropriate of those that are printable. A real test of fitness, technique, and determination, and that was just to finish it! Can I just add a mention for David Broome who also completed the "Banger" B race on his first time on a CX bike, an old steel framed yoke he had borrowed off Ronnie Smyth. Fair play Davy! Awesome performance from Derek to finish 8th in the B race - his lap times would have put him in the top 20 in the A race. Dromara CX team is growing by the week! I noticed David in that photo with Lisa, but wasn't sure if he was deserving of a mention, I went looking for his name again and it seems he has defected to Carn Wheelers. SCANDAL! Well done Davy. Its a pity you guys are only getting involved now, but hey, by the time cross is coming round again you will be absolutely chomping at the bit. My first go at CX ended up with my singlespeed abomination in the hedge, Peter Bryson can attest, he was marshalling just up from where I chucked it. A lap and a half was my total race time in 2011. Spent the whole of the next year preparing a bike for 2012. Loved it. Bike wasn't optimal though, and has been evolving ever since. Just wait until you discover Tubs.

Great report as always Barry!!! Very informative for housebound pensioners like myself. Well done everyone who took part, although the real competition begins on the 5th!!!! Current betting has Johann leading le blaireau by a whisker, in Dromara does strictly!!!

Great report Barry, my bike has not lost a few stone and is in a healthy state again! Horsing wee Jake around clogged up as far it could go with muck, leaves and other bits of Falls Park on it is bloody hard. You'd have been safer leaving the bike in the car and running it all, maybe the outcome on the podium could have been different...
