Well, the weather forecast was not wrong. It started out dry enough but the thick grey clouds came across the site and heaped the rain down. I may have forgotten to bring some tea spoons this week but I did remember to bring the gazebo I was one of the few to stay dry. What a rotten evening. Windy, cold and very wet. A HUGE thanks to the marshals who stood out at the corners for the riders. Eddie, Linda F & daughter, Kevin W, Marcus, Michael M, Noel G, Paul G, Peter B, Raymund M, Stephen W, John H. Thanks to Gary G for being head marshal, lead driver and then standing out in the rain. Thanks to Seamus Downey for jumping in as lead car. Thanks to Pastor Alistair Ritchie for letting us use the Elim church car park. A big thanks though to my young timekeeping squad of Olivia, Sam and Caolan. I was left to try to timekeep on my own. An impossible task. These guys were a huge help. Brian W came along to assist as did Trevor A. These two were also able to grab onto the gazebo to make sure it didn't take off to Oz ! Thanks guys. A big thanks as well to Fritz, who I hope has captured the other placings. The intelligent riders pulled in. The rest, well,.... there are probably rules written somewhere about racing in conditions like that. Hopefully catching pneumonia is not one of the rules to aim to achieve while out on a bike. The top 5 were Neill Currie Gary Bailie Paul Mawhirt Nathan Mullan Gavin Magowan

What a night!... DCC's Belgian classic... brutal weather with some of DOE's finest, but it's nights like that, when after the shower, the irony black recovery drinks taste that little sweeter - Thanks to all those poor marshals who stood in the rain and wind tonight, and those huddled under the gazebo spurring us on every lap, although, Mr Bryson's cap was that little ray of sunshine that was just needed on every lap to keep you going, well, apart from the last 2 when I couldn't see for the grit n spray. Involved with a great group of lads tonight, who rode so well together - ya know who ya are... sounds dodgy, but ya know what I mean... and thanks to that Italian, Team Garmin mechanic/doctor who gave me that bottle today... haven't a clue what was in it.

Congrats to Johann on a great win on a brutal night, well done to all for sticking at it after the clouds emptied, looked to be tough going. Also good to see Currie has renewed his membership of the fashion police!
