We have not got permission to use the golf club at Aberdelghy for our cyclo-cross race this year Now looking for other venues. Moira Park for example. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for a good place to run a cross race, perferable in the Lisburn City Council area. Thanks

What are the requirements/standards for a CX race? Obviously a flat open field is a bit pants but does there have to be an off-road tree'd section or anything like that? Somewhere with a few climbs etc..?

I think we should leave it out this year....we do more than enough and should chill out over the winter...we have the trailquests anyway.Too much hassle in my opinion.

... chill out over the winter... I think we will all be "chilling" this winter Deek. Pushing on through, I'll hopefully get down to Moira Park this weekend for a look. Keep your thinking caps on for other options. Adrian, a fairly flat course, an incline/hill of some sort or steps or sand or a bridge i.e. a feature or two would be good. The ideal would be a warm hall with attached showers, kitchen/café etc but that will be unlikely.

There's Hillsborough Forest? The Google Car stops at the end of the driveway so I can't see how big the place is but it takes up a large piece of land on the map. There are plenty of other events here throughout the year...

Adrian, good suggestion but the problem is the lake which leaves only a narrow strip of land near the car park which the walkers will need. Also there are signs there for no cycling. And the walkers are not too shy about giving off if you are on your bike.
Keep the suggestions coming.

What about the area around Duncan's Dam? I don't know it well but it looks a decent size on Google Maps. Wallace Park? Wasn't this event run at the Civic Centre in the past? Also, there's a lot of land off that new road (Boomer's Way?) near the new developments. Not sure if it's privately owned or not. I often see kids on dirt bikes up there.
